When everything becomes easy
Yes, everything, even public speaking.
I am writing this post to share something that blew my mind.
Last week I met Emily Groden, founder of Evergreen frozen waffles. She had a fantastic story to tell about her own life and how she went from corporate law to starting a food brand.
It’s not what she has done that is mind-blowing. Obviously, it’s undeniably impressive. But it’s what she said about it that I will never forget...
She was saying she was convinced that starting this business was what she was meant to do. She was following her purpose.
So I asked her how following her purpose shows up now that she has started the business and gotten it off the ground. She thought for a second before she said:
All I know is that everything has become easy.
Decision-making has become easy,
Work-life balance has become easy,
Even public speaking has become easy.
Bam.
Holy cow. I felt my whole body tingle and shiver with the chills.
Emily is living her life’s purpose and in a situation that seems like it would be arduous and nearly impossible at times, there is an ease to it that she didn’t have before.
She’s left a lucrative and promising career to start a business in an industry with incredibly high barriers and where she has to directly take on a multi billion dollar giant like Kellogg’s. All while she is starting a family and raising two very young children. And yet everything. is. easy.
She said even public speaking has become easy. PEOPLE! Public speaking is the #1 fear in the western world- even higher than the fear of death. And she has overcome it.
I walked away from my time with her convinced that following your purpose renders you unstoppable.
